On Monday, my friends with LIVE FROM TOKYO are holding a fundraiser event to benefit disaster relief in Japan! Sadly I won’t be able to attend, but they’ll be screening their excellent documentary LIVE FROM TOKYO, and there will be live music performances, and if it was anything like the last screening I attended it’s going to be a total blast. Sorry I’m a little late in posting this!

As you probably know, last week Japan was hit with a series of natural disasters, and I want to do my part to help. So many tee companies and artist friends of mine are doing great things, and as someone with so many friends and fond memories in Japan, I have to do what I can as well.

For this week only, I’ll be selling a special red and white tee with a dinosaur print, with all profits going to the Red Cross for disaster relief in Japan (I still need to crunch the numbers, but I can assure you it’s going to be at least $10 per tee). This tee won’t be printed in these colors again, so this offer is good for ONE WEEK ONLY.

I struggled with this design for some time, because I didn’t want to send a mixed message by blurring the line between our adorable dinosaur mascot and the Japanese Rising Sun, but I think this is a good compromise (plus, the dinosaur sells, and at the end of the day the most important thing is writing the biggest check to the Red Cross that we can!). Also, if you show up at an event I’m working wearing this tee, I will probably give you free stuff because I’ll know that you are an awesome person (just sayin’).

The new SEIBEI site is looking like it will be ready pretty soon! I’ve been hard at work on the translation for the Japanese portion of the site, and later today I’m going to get a masterclass in OpenCart (the new shopping cart system we’ll be using) from Jon of Double Dragon Studios, who’s been putting together the new site for me, so I can upload all of the products to the shop.

EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE SO FANCY. I can’t wait. Once a definite date is pinned down, I will let everyone know, but it looks like it’s mostly good to go and just needs a bit of polish.

I’m very, very excited for the Japanese portion of the site (there is a button near the top that will allow you to switch between English and Japanese, so if you accidentally end up on the wrong one you can switch over no problem) – the same level of excitement I felt when I launched the very first SEIBEI site ever so long ago (added to the excitement of a whole new SEIBEI site in general, with all kinds of new bells and whistles). I’m hopefully going to be making SEIBEI more accessible to a whole new nation of people, a nation of people who I really want to like me. I already have some Japanese fans, since so many people there know English and because of my trip to Design Festa last year, so I’ve got my foot in the door, but I can’t wait to see what having the SEIBEI shopping experience in Japanese will do for me. Maybe nothing at all, but I am very, very excited to see what happens.

In other news, I’m in Bristol (England) for the weekend visiting family. Would have mentioned this sooner, but we came to surprise my cousin for her birthday. We’ll be in London for a day as well, so maybe I’ll go stare at the new Johnny Cupcakes store like a dummy?

My cousin is in the other room using an airpump to put air up his butt and fart (sigh), so I should probably go.

Very excited to post the new tee tomorrow – I think it’s going to become a classic SEIBEI staple for sure.

I’m hoping to have a diet soda and finish up the newsletter, which I will send out tomorrow morning.

I switched clients to MailChimp, btw, but if you’ve signed up for it in the past it should be good to go.

In other news – I’m behind on work and busy with everything! I really need to shake these winter blues and crank on some serious work. I’m just so excited for the new site to come out, and to release all these new tees, and start doing more of everything.
